I3 Pro X Getting Started

Hi All,
A while ago I bought a 2nd hand I3 Pro X and used it mainly for Arduino casings and RC parts. Both dont need to be very beautiful and all went well.
But now I would like to go more in depth with the printer. Things like a part cooler, auto leveling (BLtouch), Led lightning, other fila, fan control etc.
I have the GT2560 REV A mainboard with Marlin. Firmware version unknown, I am not at home.
The previous owner told me that he already optimized it and that I do not need newer firmware but if that is true, I do want to understand it.
So, my question to you is:
How can I learn G-Code and where?
How can I learn to understand the Marlin Firmware (I have Arduino knowledge)
How can I learn to understand the settings of Marlin. For example, when I auto-home, the X-axis and Y-Axis are -9 and -5. Again, working fine but I want to know why and how.
So basically, where and how can I learn to understand this technology to get the best out of my Geeetech?
Thanks!
