initial setup issue

Hello Everybody,
This is my first post here, I am sure there will be more to follow !!!
I am sure I can't be the first with this issue.
I have built the 301 printer and I am currently connecting it up.
i have it connected to Repetier as it suggests.
When I press the home icon the extruder rises via the 3 motors but one motor never reaches the top and it starts to slip on the belt before it hits the end stops.
If I disconnect one or two of the 3 long white extruder tubes from the top of the extruder to reduce the strain it seems to work fine.
Once I connect the 3 of them back, the same problem happen.
It is as if the tubes are too stiff for the job, or belt rungs not big enough, or maybe I have done something wrong.
Any suggestions much appreciated,
Thanking you in advance
Dermot
