Geeetech i3 pro b not handling filament well

Hello there, a while back I got a geeetech i3 pro b which is a prusa clone from China. I got all the standard problems with it sorted out and I got it to actually print with decent quality. But I found that it would really only work well with one filament at a time and that if I had to switch filaments I would have to do a whole bunch of calibration.
I recently bought a used lulzbot mini v2 and it handles all the filaments fine with just one setting. The geeetech one couldn't even print a black pla that I had and the lulzbot handles it fine I can provide pictures if needed.
So I was just wondering what this was a problem with, I think it's the extruder being bad quality but i am not entirely sure.
Thanks in advance.
