Hello Everybody,
I would be grateful for any help on an error message I am getting inside "Smatto Firmware Upgrador V2.0"
I select the correct port being COM3 and then click select and choose the "A30_M_LCD_V1_36" however I get below error.
Error - Upgrading failed! Detail: the first character received timeout! perhaps you are using the wrong port?
I have installed the driver and it shows up under the driver manager called USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM3).
I am unsure how to proceed with any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
Thank you
Carl

Hi.
The "TIMEOUT" error may also be due to incorrectly defined transmission speed or incorrect protocol parameters.

Hi Kaktus,
Thank you for pointing me the right direction, I literally have no idea haha
If I may ask how do I edit the protocol parameters would this be inside the files which contain code in the "Smatto Firmware Upgrador V2.0" folder"?
Can I also define transmission speed from within?
Much appreciated
Carl

You can check the settings in the Smatto Firmware Upgrador V2.0 application to see if they match the parameters of your printer.
Don't do anything deeper, because you'll get into trouble.
I'm using Linux and I've never seen these applications. So my suggestions may be helpful but be careful.

Hi.
In principle, the SD card is used to store project files for printing.
If you want the printer to work independently, you start the project printout from the card.
Another way is to connect the printer to the computer and work with the appropriate program.
I really like and value Repetier-Host.
To upload files to the memory card you have to place it in the card reader and connect it to your computer.

Thank you once again for your reply, ohh that is interesting, sounds like a viable way around my timeout error, I had the computer connected via USB cable when I got this error so I shall give it again without connecting to my pc.
Just to double check I understand correctly, I can circumvent the necessity to install/upgrade firmware on my computing board if I put the SD card with designs on it. I can then use the controllers on the printer to navigate to print these designs?
So by using this method, at least for the time being. Assuming I am okay not connecting it to my computer, I should be able to print without doing anything to the firmware which means I do not have to try and solve my error and have no need to use the “Smatto Firmware Upgrador V2. , please could you tell me if that sounds about right?
Finally, if I am unable to connect the printer directly to my computer when it comes to things like bed levelling and having the printer move to specific positions so you can set it up doing it from the LCD screen, for whatever reason, does not seem to work. If I press the button it will not give me any other options and if I turn the dial it changes the fan speed, but that is all?
Great thanks for the recommendation I have downloaded it in anticipation!
Thank you for your time
Carl

Hi.
Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine.
The printer can work as a completely standalone device.
If there are problems with the functioning of the printer when using the operator panel, this is a completely different matter.
In the first step, make sure that all cable connections are good enough.
There are no breaks somewhere. Especially if the wide flat cable is well connected.
