i3 Startup

Hi peeps , got an i3 B Pro as an abandoned project cheap of eBay - I can now see why they gave up as firmware updates and configuration is ANYTHING but straightforward. Having said that been battling though and after many FAILED firmware uploads - I have now managed to get up to the latest Marling firmware with what looks like correct settings. I have also replaced the X-axis steel rods and bearings as there was a fair bit of 'wobble' - this is eliminated completely (for little money spent). Using latest (stable) Arduino IDE on MacOS (HighSierra) - works well.
I also changed MOTHERBOARD value from ULTIMAKER to MOTHERBOARD 7 - this will hopefully work as the any of the RAMPS configurations crashes the board.
Will hopefully attempt another test print today - fingers crossed, any advice welcome. I will also attempt to share my experiences as I go a long. Ohh BTW Prittstick is a great and cheap adhesive - washes off easily in the sink
