Firmware (again)

I had problems with the firmware that came with the board, motors running the wrong direction etc. Its all a bit of a blur but I got firmware from somewhere but I think it was an older issue, my machine is all working quite well with that, I was wondering if its worth updating to Marlin 1.1.8 are there any benefits over the older code.

I downloaded the code from the Marlin web site and extracted it, there is even a config for Geeetech 13 pro B included in the sample configs folder

What do you think, leave alone or update.

I down loaded it from http://marlinfw.org/meta/download/

You can upload the Marlin 1.1.8 and then test it.Then you will find the difference between them, why not?

I did decide to try the new firmware , it was a tough decision after getting things running fairly well. Luck and my little experience served me well and it uploaded without any issues, I used the i3b configuration that was included in the configurations file , replacing config.h with the i3b config contents.

The first thing I noticed was the initialising screen displayes the firmware version, I notice the sounder on the LCD now beeps rather than clicks, the one I like most is the home settings, the machine appears to take much more care getting the exact XYZ home position. I'm sure there are many more refinements that I don't see as a new user. All in all I'm glad I updated the firmware.
