Extruder not working

Hi all, my extruder has died for some odd reason, and I was looking through the forums to find a solution, at first I tried re-uploading the firmware (Marlin-PI3_Pro_B) and while it was burning firmware into the control unit, I saw that the extruder motor had gotten stiff ( I couldn't move it while it was uploading) and once it was done uploading, the motor came back to the dead... I also saw someone suggesting to change the setting of the "E in mm3" setting in the Fillament at control... didn't work out as well... if anyone has good solutions to why it gets stiff at uploading but then just dies at regular operation would be glad, thank you!
