Z axis only moves in one direction.

Post by camg1 » Thu Mar 22, 2018 10:49 pm

Got the geeetech i3 Pro B a few days ago and have been trying to get it to work for 3 days now. I am having trouble with the z- axis. It only seems to move in one direction, which out of the box was up. So i went into the firmware and changed the setting which inverts it to see if it can go down, which it can, however now it wont go up, does anyone know how to fix this?

Your original state where the axis would only move up is probably the correct one.

The home command should move it down till the Z_Axis endstop switch switch is actuated.

It sounds like your Z_Axis endstop switch thinks it has been actuated, in which case the initial position of the Z_Axis is taken as the Z_Axis datum. (When you print, the Z_Axis only moves up, you can manually drive it down but not past the home/datum position. The datum is the home or start position.)

Check the wiring on the Z switch, the two outer connections are the ones used, same as X and Y. Check the switch operation with a multimeter if you can, perhaps the switch is faulty.

If the wiring or switch is faulty, correct it and return the firmware to its original state then check again.

Play Bonny!
