Nozzle Extrusion Question

Post by JRR94 » Wed Mar 21, 2018 12:45 am

When I started my first few prints everything went well, but I'm now experiencing some issues. I'm getting lots of gaps and the filament seems to get caught up around the extruder nozzle and then pulls off the print bed. It also curls up around the nozzle when it starts to extrude.

The only way I have had success is to apply pressure on the filament going into the extruder which then makes it come out correctly, adhere well to the bed and make smooth prints. Obviously I shouldn't have to sit there pushing filament in.

I've adjusted the bed and the distance to the nozzle, all seems fine there. I've also taken the top parts off the extruder and used a rod to push remnants out while hot, which seemed to get a lot out. I thought that would have cleaned up a possible blockage, but I still have the same issue.

Where do I go from here?

I think you can set nozzle temp :180C~220C

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work. When filling in the outlines of a cube it fills in in thick then thin sections creating a weak print. It's almost like half of it is extruding correctly while the rest isn't.

I have the exact same problem. If i push the filament by hand the print is fantastic.
Please let me know if you sort this out.

Maybe the extruder calibration will improve the print quality.
Need to increase the number of engine steps per 1mm?

Sounds like the extruder isn't extruding properly.

Is the extruder motor working correctly? Do you sometimes get a clicking sound from it? (This is where it stalls and doesn't feed, possibly because the pressure spring is exerting too much force between the filament feed cog and the pressure roller so its actually acting like a brake. If so, release some tension on the spring or fit a weaker one. You may have to adjust the motor driver current to give more power to the motor.

My two cents worth!

Play Bonny!

I appears I have a similar problem. Has this been resolved?

I had a similar issue after printing fine for few days, i found the spring in the extruder had become weak so was slipping and not feeding the filament properly.

My prints would start fine but 20 mins in and i would have issues, i downloaded

and it solved all my issues, hopefully works for you.

Also worth looking at the gear to make sure its not full of filament from when it was slipping as this also hinders operation
