Hi there. does anyone know how much the distance between the extruder and the hotbed should be during leveling during the first layer? I have been tryijng to level my A30 for more than a month now, and haven't printed anything yet as the first layer is always unsuccessful: like some places is just not there, some places it is not adhered to the hotbed and than cloggs the nozzle and I have to kill the job. I cannot understand what I am doing wrong. I tried a million times to level it by means of the paper method, and everytime I think I got it writ, but than havoc strikes and I have to kill the job.

Any advice is welcome as I really need to print something with this printer.

make sure before homing (stepper motor are off) your X axis are leveled. use a bubble level.
make sure your bed is leveled vs your X axis using the same bubble level.

home your X
home your Z
disable motor
home z
move x carriage to bed
move bed to the nozzle like first corner
see how much is your gap use printer's copier paper between the nozzle and bed
adjust the knob to "squeeze paper onto the nozzle
you need to be able to drag the paper back AND FORTH, if only you are able to drag it back and not able to go forward with the paper, then TOO tight.
you need to FEEL the DRAG of the paper rubbing the nozzle.


NOW, it is important to note that the knob under the bed uses spring to held with the needed "pushing upward" tension, if it is too loose as consequence of correct paper drag (bed level), then you will need to bring down your Z home sensor a bit until you have great tension on those knobs/bed

Z motor while doing the bed leveling needs to be on to hold/lock its high.

Hi there. Thanks for the post. I did all you said, but still finding problems. When I level all 4 corners, than the middle will be too tight. If I level the middle, than the 4 corners will be too loose. Any advice please? Still haven't manage to print anything yet. Thanks.

I have experienced this only just this weekend and found the middle of the hot plate is not flat, as though it has a slight hump in the middle although i found other issues.

Raise the Z out of the way and bring the hot bed fully forward, put a straight edge across it and see if there is any movement/pivoting from the center, it will only be very slight but you will feel it. If this is the case you will never level this printer.

I find the A10 to be very sensitive to adjustment, even resting your hand on the frame as you adjust the knobs throws it out so be gentle.

use a glass or mirrow.
it will be flat.
adjust your z endstop to correct the glass differences.
or else, contact the seller or Geeetech for resolution.
