A30 Bowden Flow Rates

This is my first Bowden printer. I did the calculations for the extrusion steps and adjusted the steps, so when requesting 100 mm we get 100mm.

I did get a successful 20x20mm test cube .2mm layer height and the dimensions were perfect. I also printed a tall part .1mm layer height with a small footprint and it also printed fine. But, when I am trying to print a large 165x222mm base the flow does not seem to be able to keep up. I am printing at speeds between 30-45mms .2mm height and have tried a flow rate of 110% with PLA filament temperature of 225C. any ideas of what the flow rate should be on this large an object.

Your printing at a slow rate, I would lower your temprature to about 205 and then go up by 5 degree's in each test to see what works best, I always use 100% flow rate sometimes 115% for first layer. The speed and the flow and the temprature I think it would put out too much pla, I know you say you extrude 100mm but at the temp and flow your using the pla would probably oose more maybe if you are using retract the nozle is still dribbling pla. Hope you get what I am saying, I am not the best at explaining.

If you post a photo It may say more than words though, Its just sometimes better to see what is happening.

Steve.

Thanks for the reply, but I was using retraction and very similar settings to what you suggested and I am getting severe underextrusion,.
