Frame Modification for stability?

Post by Sa1Wales » Sun Jun 02, 2019 9:02 pm

Hi Guys
Do you think this would be worth doing to make the frame more sturdy, I made a basic mock up in my 3D programs to show what I want to do, and want your opinion on if its worth doing? The upgrade materials are about £34.00 as I also ordered more rubber feet as the Y Axis of the frame I think is not supported enough as when I level the bed just the weight of my hand on the profile forces the nozzel down, with support feet under the Z axis Profile should stop this happening. Thanks for any Relies on this.

Steve.

I have fitted 10 Rubber feet at the moment 2 for each end of the Y axis rails and on left and right 3 either side of the the main frame 1 on each corner and 1 either side of the Z axis frame as all the weight seems fo be on that part of the frame. As I say when I try manual level the bed just the slightest touch on the main frame X would make the frame bow slightly and push the nozle further down on the bed giving an inacurate level, as when I take my hand away and move the A4 sheet it moves without any friction from the nozle on the paper, now I have support feet in that part of the frame its fine now.

On my render above I put the 2 top 20x20 profile on top but that is not possible, so I will fit them to the top side instead Ill just take off the Caps either side and fix to them so its not restricted where the Lead screws are.

Vert Its not that much work I would say about 30 mins max, I have worked on an assembly line making fruit/slot machines, Assembly I find easy now the cutting of prifile I have asked my step dad to help with as he has worked for years in Techniquest building all sorts of contraptions, cutting things straight with least amout of waste should be right up his street..lol

Its giving me Ideas about building my own 3D printer using the parts from my A10 too, since getting the A30 the A10 sits in the attic doing nothing, I am very happy with the A30 I have had a few problems but geeetech are really good at after sales, when it arrived the Extruder lever was lose in the box and the SD card reader was not working, but loving it also glad I havent got some major problems like some have with the A30. Anyway I am rambling now so i will shut up now..lol

Thanks for the replys guys

Steve.
