VREF adjustment for 24v system

Are the stepper Vref adjustment values different for the 24v system on the newer units?. Also is the value for the single driver dual z set higher than the others? I have them all adjusted to .7 right now.

To your first question: no, the ref voltage is the same regardless of the source voltage.
To your second question:yes, you want the z stepper driver to be set as high as you can get it. I usually run them at 1.15v or similar. The driver is wired in series so each z-axis stepper only sees half the voltage.

Your 0.7v should be good for the X and Y but i would keep an eye on the temperature of the extruder and if it gets too hot drop the voltage to under 0.6

Thanks for the advice. My extruder motor is getting too hot to touch during repeated retractions, I will adjust again.
If the steppers are overheating, could that be the cause of the printer pausing on its own?

If the stepper drivers get too hot, they will go into thermal protection and temporarily shut down, but the only result is missed steps and flaws in the print. They will work again as soon as they have cooled down a second or so. If your entire print is pausing, its not a stepper issue.
I did see another post on this forum where someone had the same pausing issue that was corrected by upgrading to the latest firmware. Have you given that a try?
