A30 constantly rebooting.

Post by SerpentWarrior » Mon Apr 20, 2020 7:14 am

Hello,
I have an A30 and I am having a problem with it constantly rebooting. The reboot seems random and happens at different times when using the same gcode. I run the gcode from the SD card and don't have any wifi. This prevents me from doing any large/long print time projects because I need to be able to click the "Play" icon on the display to continue where the print left off. This creates a lot of blobs when the nozzle moves back into position from where it left off. See the attached photos.

I have been searching the topics and don't have any clear idea of what the problem is. I have read that it could be a drop of voltage, printer is moving too quickly, capacitor on board for heatbed is failing, and likely some other reasons that I don't recall.

Are there any details that I could provide to help in trouble shooting this problem?

Thank you!

I'd setup my cell phone to record a video to catch what the screen said, right before the reboot. It would also record the temperature. If the temperature jumps too much, the printer would shut down and give a thermal runaway error.

Thank you for the reply. Those are some good ideas! I've been sitting next to the printer while it rebooted and don't recall seeing anything on the screen. It just beeps and the screen is white. With that said, I probably wasn't looking close enough and recording a video will be good.

Doing some tests.. I did video the reboot and there are no error messages. It just beeps and reboots.

So the additional tests are to see if the rebooting is being caused from me making temperature adjustments or speed adjustments from the control box screen. I think if I just leave the printer alone it doesnt reboot.

I'd next check power. I'd take a volt meter and stick it into an outlet and record the voltage display as the printer prints.

It gets a little harder, but you can also check the DC voltage in a similar way, just nor sure how or where to attach the volt meter.

temperature can also cause random computer crashing. Make sure all the fans are spinning and that none of the vents are blocked.

Try sending the file from a different method, if you are using the SD card, try the USB or visa-versa. Try a different SD card or usb cable.

I'm sure it's frustrating.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Here is a follow up:

I thought that because I was touching the settings using the control box it was causing the random rebooting. I tried printing without adjusting the settings and still got the reboot. What I found is that if I let the machine reboot and cool down (I had gone away from the print for awhile) then when I hit play, the entire print works without rebooting. I went on for many prints for many days without shutting off the printer or playing with the control box settings. I did a 10hr print with no problems.. the print looked great!

Then.... the heatbed stopped heating... booooooooooo

Maybe the problems were related... but I have to fix the heatbed now or I wont get any prints.
