I have just finished building the above printer and when it is powered on there is no display. the backlight does not light up and no characters or blocks are visible. Pressing the button causes a beep and turning the knob causes yellow lights on the control board to flash. It seems like it is working but i have no display, and unlike the display in your instructions, this one has no adjustment screw on it. please help.

Have you tried to check the wiring of LCD and SD Card cables?
If you have tried it.I think you can refer to this picture

Thank you William. I have checked that it is connected correctly. What is the photograph showing me?

The printer works ok by usb connection but the lcd display does not work.

If the voltage of it is normal 5V then you can know the issue is cables or LCD itself

Hi William

I have checked the voltage and I am getting 5 volts. I have also checked the leads for continuity and they are both okay. How do I go about getting the LCD replaced?

Thanks

Hello ;-)

Displayed rectangles indicate that the LCD has not been correctly initialized by the control system.

That's why, as advised by William, it is important to check the correctness of connections.
There are many ways to make a mistake when assembling components.
Before buying a new part, you must be sure that you have avoided the mistake.

I am not getting any display at all, not even a backlight. I have checked the cables and I am confident that they are connected correctly and I have checked continuity.

Could someone please tell me how I can get a replacement LCD unit because having to use a laptop all the time to run the printer is getting quite tiresome.
