replace extruder

Post by Jeroen » Mon May 01, 2017 5:46 pm

Hi, I have an Aluminum Prusa I3 3D Printer with an MK8 extruder and would like to replace it with an extruder with higher print quality. Which extruder is eligible for this? Do I have to make firmware modifications? If so, where can I find this? How do I do this?

I know many questions but possibly someone can help me.

Thanks in advance.

What size of nozzle have you fitted to your extruder? To get a higher quality print you would need to fit a smaller one and adjust the nozzle setting in your slicer program. The nozzle size is marked on the nozzle itself.

You shouldn't need to replace the whole extruder if your current one prints OK.

Check Amazon for Nozzles: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_pg_2? ... B01KHNFVOE

For instructions how to change the nozzle search Google or YouTube. :)

Note that with a smaller nozzle, your prints will have more layers and therefore take longer to print.

Play Bonny!
