Rostock G2 Mini - G29 breaking carriages

When I first got this "kit", the G29 command would run within bounds and not damage anything, but it never seemed to do the auto level. After two firmware updates, the G29 command now tries to run to invalid points before it starts, and it doesn't take much to break the tabs that connect the rods to the carriages. BTW, when these parts are printed they should basically have no fill!
I am waiting for a friend, who has better things to print, to make more of these carriages up for me. He has already done the spider plate for me, which was delivered with holes that looked like eggs and had to be filed round, which made them thinner. Another poorly designed part, that should be made with much more material. If I could, i would return this troublesome printer back to the dealer, but it looks like I'm stuck with it, and I'm really not very happy about it. After almost a week I am still stuck with a broken printer.
What are the chances of getting the model files for all of the Rostock G2 Mini components so that I can make them much more sturdier? I can use either an AutoCAD or MicroStation 3D file.
Back to the G29, what should I look for in the firmware that would cause this to happen? I cannot get me printer leveled using the information provided. I'm hoping auto level will do more than destroy components.
Another question, has anyone ever got one of these printers to run properly?
