temperature issue
temperature issue
Hi,
I tried to test the hotbed and extruder but on increasing their temperatures, the control board started giving out smoke and the heatbed wires lost their stiffness. Is it that I did not connect the wires correctly? Or is it normal? My control board is Arduino Mega 2560, the hotbed wires were connected to D8 and the Extruder heat wires connected to D9. Moreover, is there a calibration method I can use for the printer to familiarise itself with its position? And finally, what default values should I use for X, Y and Z axis (Min and Max displacements).
Thank you very much.

Re: temperature issue
1. Extruder is connected to D10.
2. The printer knows the its position correctly if it is home intially.
3. Displacement: 0-190mm for x, 0-200mm for y, 0-140mm for z.

Re: temperature issue
I have re-fixed the extruder wires to D10 thank you. Will it also take care of the smoking issue from the board?

Re: temperature issue
Please turn the printer off. Which part smokes? Please take a picture of mainboard and highlight that part.
Re: temperature issue
I was reading another person's forum, it seems to be from the position of the MOSFET in front of the D8 terminal. It isn't burnt up so I can't show you specifically.
"Re: RAMPS board smoking" is the forum I am talking about. And finally, can I use the coordinates you just gave me for defining the home position? And would that be X(min) Y(min) and Z also (min)?

Re: temperature issue
Here is the picture, I also want to ask for suggestions on how to rotate the board with the fan having direct access to cooling the ramp terminals.

Re: temperature issue
My solution to this is to mount a heat sink with fan of an old video card to the MOSFET. Ugly, but works.
