Z top mount holes too small for threaded rod

Am I assembling this wrong or are the holes too small? Do I need to get a different top mount?

It's both sides that the issue is happening.

please rotate the threaded rod when assembling the top mount.and if the threaded rod is not vertical, you will also could not mount the top mount.so,please try to enlarge the diatance between the 2 parts marked by red frame.

When I rotate them through the rods, they become stuck because there isn't any threading inside the holes of the acrylic. I'm afraid of cracking the acrylic because I know it's brittle. There is enough distance at this point.

I drilled the holes and made them bigger because I had the same problem. I also have the rods bent (I believe this is very common due to fabrication) and by enlarging the threaded rod holes in the acrylic piece it not only permitted them to wobble without binding to the acrylic piece and rotate freely but also improved the printing quality for the x-axis. On the other hand you really need the guide rods to be very tight to have the same effect of preventing the x-axis movement to be precise.

Hello,

I had the same problem. My final solution was to drill out those 2 holes with a drill. I originally wanted to use an 8mm drill, but settled on a 5/16" drill bit. If it is still a little snug, just wobble the drill around a little bit to get the drill to drill over size. I don't think a sloppy hole will cause issues anyway.

Hello,

I had the same issue. My final solution was to drill out those two holes with a 5/16" drill. I was going to use an 8mm drill but had issues finding one quickly without ordering one. A 5/16" drill is about .003" SMALLER than *mm, so you may have to "wobble" the drill around to get it to drill over size. I don't think an over size hole will affect the machine in the end either.
