I3 Pro W LCD shows gibberish

Hi guys,
I have just finished assembling my Prusa I3 pro W and installing the required software (drivers and EasyPrint3D). However, when I connect the printer in EasyPrint3D, the bottom line on the LCD goes from "PI3 Pro W ready" to complete and utter gibberish. Here are some examples:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1KxQjQ ... G7SMRGbLpg
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QR8Fh ... bNuYOvQveC
The same "messages" keep coming back, but which one is displayed appears to be completely random.
The USB-SERIAL CH340 driver is properly installed, and the correct COM-port and printer model are selected in EasyPrint3D.
So far I have removed and reinstalled EasyPrint3D, removed and reinstalled the USB-SERIAL CH340 driver, reconnected and rebooted the printer, and updated the firmware, but the problem persists.
Anyone has an idea as to what causes this and how it can be fixed?
