One-way motors

My issue is with the Prusa i3 C with the GT2560 board.

Under manual control, each motor will only move towards the home position. Trying to move away from home gives the message "endstops hit: ". Sending the M119 command indicates that all three min endstops are open and indicates all three max endstops are triggered, but I have no max endstops installed. I ran the M119 command while pressing the min endstops individually and each axis min endstop changed from open to triggered as expected. Is there a setting to tell the program that there are no max endstops installed and allow movement away from the home position or is another solution required?
