sanguinololu software and wiring

Post by BenP » Sun Jul 27, 2014 6:58 am

Greeting Geeetech..

I bought the Prusa Mendel I2 kit with the sanguinololu Rev 1.3a Controller board, and have a couple questions..

First question is: The instructions PDF i got from your website say that i need a software CD that comes with the kit but there was no CD in the box. It's the CD with the drivers to install on my computer. After searching your website i found this page http://www.geeetech.com/wiki/index.php/Sanguinololu are those compressed files at the bottom of that page the software i need??? If they are what driver do i use, there are 10 .inf files in the drivers folder and they are all arduino versions but the instructions say to use “sanguinololu.inf” but there is no .inf file with that name.

Second question is: The SD card shield don't match the pins on the board.. I looked at the wiring schematic and its hard to see if i'm supposed to put it on the last 6 pins and the first 2 next pins?? i notice if i do that there would be 2 pins missing between the first 6 pins and the last 2 pins of the shield. Can you confirm this? or am i wrong?? Also is the SD card shield really needed for the printer to work or can i leave it off??

Ben

Hi Alina,

Thank you for your reply, the picture was very helpful and i got the SD shield installed.

Do you want me to post my order number here on the forum??

Anyways i have new questions now..

Question one: Where do i connect the fan? the instructions pdf don't say where to connect the fan.

Question two: About the Marlin firmware you attached here. do i have to install that? i thought the firmware was already pre-installed? I was able to communicate with the printer from my laptop using the Virtual Com Port USB drivers suggested on your Sanguinololu page here http://www.geeetech.com/wiki/index.php/Sanguinololu (step 1 under firmware download). After i installed that driver i used pronterface and it connected to the printer, i was able to control all the stepper motors and turn on the heat bed and the hotend. i just had one issue, the stepper motors acted like they were not getting enough power to correctly move the sleds. how do i adjust so that the stepper motors get the proper voltage so they can correctly move the sleds (X,Y,Z axis and the extruder)?

Regards
Ben

Dear Ben,

Sorry for my poor English.
Yes, the pins I mark for you as the attachment need to plug jumper caps.
Any other concerns, just feel free to contact me.

Hi Alina

Thank you for you help, those jumper caps fixed the problem! :)

I think I am very close to my first actual test print with the printer!!

I just have two more questions..

Question one: All the motors work great BUT the two Z axis motors move in reverse, that is, when i send the command to move in the positive (up) direction the motors turn in reverse and bring the sled down, and if i click to move in the negative direction (down) the motors turn moving the sled up!
I read in the reprap wiki http://www.reprap.org/wiki/Prusa_Mendel_Assembly way at the bottom of that page it says flip the plug 180 degrees, but if the plug is polarized (can only be plugged in one way) , to re connect the wires in the plug, (your plugs are polarized).
The extruder is also reversed when i click to extrude it turns in reverse pushing the filament up and when i click to reverse it it feeds the filament in!
Do i need to flip all 4 wires 180 degrees or just the black and red wires??

Question two: About the fan, the fan plug has 3 wires but the board only has two pins for the fan.
How do i plug in the 3 wire fan plug to the two pins on the board?

2. You only need to pulg 2 wire( black and red wires) fan plug to the two pins on the board. Attached is the pictures for your reference, please kindly check it.
