extruder not pulling enough filament

Post by Rege » Wed Nov 23, 2016 2:46 pm

Hello
My i3 pro B is finally assembled, and after many try i can't get the extruder to work correctly.

Tried many things:
- filament is PLA , 1,75mm tested all Temperature until 230°
- tuned te steps per unit value in the firmware from 93 (original) to 144, with no change in the result
- checked the voltage 12,1V , and also tuned the extruder driver from 0.7V to 1V (other drivers for axes are around 0.8 and works great)
- Changed the Slic3r tuning , finally for a 0.2 mm height print with honeycomb infill, extrusion multiplier 1.2, i can't get any better than enclosed pictures...
Is there some thing that I'm missing?
What can I do ?

Hi,
You can remove the fan on extruder to check if the extruder motor feeds the filament normally when extruding.
-Keep your mind and try to test it. :)
-Everything will be fun!-Support all Getech printer.
-You can ask me the questions and I will kindly reply.

The motor makes the filament move but i think the spring does not press enough ...
Will try to make a video.

Still the same problem

Can someone help me?
I really think that the spring is not strong enough... when I pull the lever with my hand the filament extrudes well.
I've seen in another thread that the aluminium version ok MK8 may be the solution... can someone confim?

Please Geeetech support team help me.

After two months with problems of extrusion, I finally realized that the problem is in the extruder, specifically in the screw that pushes the filament which slides when pushing plastic because it does not have enough pressure.

The solution was as easy as putting a piece of paper in the extruder's spring, so that it becomes stronger and the filament does not slip when it passes through the screw.

I hope it helps you, tested on two i3 pro B with the same problem, both working perfectly.

Hello
Thanks @websmr with this feedback, i designed a part to increase the spring pressure
http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1936289
Using the 4mm version seem the better for me.

Seem to work fine for me - but now the extruder is missing steps sometimes, but the print is really better
See Picture : pikachu before /after

@William: what else would you propose?

Thanks

Seems better now, but i think maybe you have too much pressure, with the piece of paper i have good results, dont missing steps or something.

I measured how many mm has the piece of paper and its 2mm, you should try this version

You were right ...
Today , I tried to prin something, and no feeding at all -> after checking the extruder upper part is broken... maybe too much effort.
I'm really disappointed ...
Tried to contact my seller because without the spring load , there were not enough filament so no good print, and now it is broken...

I added a note on my thingiverse part to prevent other broken parts...

Alternative trials / solutions

If pivot is broken, change it with a 3mm screw, to which you have removed head.
