Has anyone got experience with these new Peek G2 hot ends ye

I still haven't managed to print anything with my printer as I am still playing with stupid configuration issues and the other day I heated up one of my hot ends for testing purposes and guess what....it melted. Can you believe a hot end melting, well technically it is doing it's job, but it not supposed to be melting itself :)

Anyway Geeetech offered me replacement hot ends and they are the new Peek version of it. Has anyone used one of these yet? Do you have anything to report about it? Should we be out there shopping for replacements right now?

I have been supportive of Geeetech up to now, but I must say that my support is starting to fray around the edges right now, especially as I realise that buying their printer has finally become the "expensive option" and I could have bought one locally cheaper (after the cost of spare parts that I have had to buy).

I have just purchased replacements for my hot ends and they available on ebay. I paid a lot less than I expected and I also received an additional 5% discount becasue I spent over $15 with the seller.

The link for these hot ends are http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3D-Printer-E ... 27f615a00e

OK, I have had my very first simulated print run!

The reason why I say simulated is because I can't pass any ABS through the nozzle yet and I will now try to find out what is blocking it. I imaging that this will be hard with ABS already melted in it and cooled down.

As I suspected the problem has been repetier the whole time, but unfortunately instruction for novices on how to set this up is very poor and unfortunately, the Geeetech forum is still a little light on resources and experience. Hopefully I will be able to document the procedure I followed to set this up as soon as I ger it running properly.

Contact me if you need hints immediately.

Cheers,

Rick

Dear Rick,

I was reading your posts and i am in the same situation, i am new to printing but managed to set up my printer correctly after a quite a few days. New that its done went to do the first print and my hot end melted!!! i have the Delta Rostock mini G2s DIY kit with auto-leveling, so i changed over to the second extruder as it has two and the same thing happened!!!!!!

From your experience do you suggest me buying a Metal Hot End from the link you posted did it solve your problem? And is it compatible with the Delta Rostcok mini g2s i have?

I would greatly appreciate your help as i am giving up now :(

Thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

Unfortunately that hot-end can't be used in out Mini Delta GS2 printer because it has a different dimension for one of the critical mounting points and it mounts very loosely. What I do suggest is contacting Geeetech support and telling them that you are having problems, I know they were developing a metal solution hot-end for out printer and it may be ready now.

Cheers, Rick
