Cartrige heater seems to be dead.

Post by aubin80 » Wed Apr 01, 2015 6:36 am

Hello,

My hotend refusse to heat. I can see the temperature state on the LCD screen
I deeply think the cartridge heater (12V 40W) to be responsible of the issue.

I bought a new one but I can't remove the old one from the mk8 extruder.
How do I have to process to solve the problem?

Thanks

Aubin

Is the wire of heater connected correctly? What is the mainboard type?

As you can see in the picture, there are 2 hole on the edge side. Loosen the screws.

Thanks for the help.

Do I have to buy a new coton hotend insulation or it can work without it?

That is used to slow the cooling speed of hotend when heating. My opinion is you don't buy a new one. But please be careful, don't touch it when heating.
