Printer still is not working

Post by Haralds » Mon Oct 31, 2016 12:28 pm

Hi!

In august I bought new Geeetech Prusa I3 M201.

Now is two months gone after receiving it and it still is a brick on my desk.

Even up to now support was not good I still hope that soon printer will work.

So after I finally last week receive the replacement board I connect all wires according manual.

I identified following problems:
1) Seems LCD is not working. It is lighted green but no text on it.
2) heated bed is not heating.
3) heated bed temperature is all time 0 deg.C
4) X - axis motor is all time clicking. It getting hot (~65deg.C)
Even there is problems I thought that it should work anyway. So I tried to start the printer and tried to print simple part.
So I identified following problems:
5) hot end heats up only manually. If I try to print temperature is not increasing.
6) After I manually heated the hot end and then push print printer is not moving. Manually printer moves.

I found out something close to my case in the forum (http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 19&t=17039)
So I am providing information what I get out:
1) Heatbed and hotend LED is on;
2) Heatbed and hotend fuses is alive;
3) LED under heatbed connection is not coming on;
4) mosfet near heatbed is 1,2V
5) hotbed resistance between connectors:
5.1) 1-5; 2-4; 1-4; 2-5 all=2,8-3Ω;
5.2) 3-4=5,6MΩ
6) I swap the thermocouple connectors of hotbed and hotend result is that temperature measurement indications too were swapped.

Please provide me with further instructions to get printer work.

Hi,Haralds
1) Seems LCD is not working. It is lighted green but no text on it.
1 .You can refer to this post:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 23&t=17040
2) heated bed is not heating.
3) heated bed temperature is all time 0 deg.C
2. Could you attach a screenshot about the heatbed temp at the moment you switch on the printer?
4) X - axis motor is all time clicking. It getting hot (~65deg.C)
You can swap the driver on X motor with another motor to see how it is going.
Finally,could you attach some pics and videos about your issue so i can help you fix it?
I'll appreciate it if you could offer some of them.

1) LCD
I checked the wiring it is correct. I swapped no changes.

Later on I will try complete the firmware option. (On moment I have not time for it)

2) x-motor
I swapped X axis drive with Y axis drive. Now Y axis is clicking.

Hi,Haralds

1.Have you adjusted the potentiometer on back of the LCD?
If you have and it doesn't fix it still,then you can try uploading the firmware for it:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 20&t=17597

2.The bed temp
1)You can plug the thermistor cable of extruder1 or extruder2 to the T_Bed slot to check if the slot was broken.If the bed temp displays normally,then go to point 2.
2)Check if the thermistor has a good connection to the board and the bed(maybe there is an open circuit somewhere),to confirm it you can remove the bed to check the bottom of it.

3.The motor issue
Maybe the driver on X axis has a problem,you can refer to this post to increase its voltage:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 17&t=17038
After that,we can say it is a broken one if that still doesn't fix it.

Hi!

Are you reding te posts and check the information in attached files ????

1) in video You can see the changes of screen !
In video I am changing the potentiometer and You can see how it changes...

I have uploaded latest firmware of board. No changes.

2) I said previously "6) I swap the thermocouple connectors of hotbed and hotend result is that temperature measurement indications too were swapped."
So it mans I take disconnect the termistor from hotbed and connect to hotend place and hotend termistor were connected to hotbed place.
After change hotend shows "0" and hotbed the room temperature.

I checked the connectivity of wire from hot bed to board and termistor to board. I checked connection from wire end (at boards side) to soldering place on heated bed. There is good connection.

FYI: I swapped the wire hotbed heater vs hot end heater. After swap hot end does not heats when I using repieter manual control switch on hot bed. And using repieter manual control switch on the heatbed no changes in temperature of hot end.

3) strange but only to this drive voltage are not stable it all time goes up and down.

Hi,Haralds

1)The LCD and the driver may be broken,you can contact the seller to ask for a replacement.

2)Temperatrure display
You can refer to this post to check the slots on the board is OK:
http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic ... 23&t=17030
If they are OK,then the thermistor on heatbed may be a bad one.

Hello!

I checked the f I short the termistor end on board repieter shows 301 deg.C.

On heated bed I don't see any damages or disconnections.

Sorry but You didn't say anything about heating of heated bed.

What is about it?

We have following facts:
1) resistance of heated bed is out of specification.
2) heated bed is not heating even if it is connected to boards hotend heater.
3) hot end doesn't heat if I connect it in place of heated bed. In case if board is in order hot end should heat up but it doesn't happen.

So my assumption is following:
1) that hot bed is dead at all;
2) probably there is some problem with board too.

1.
I checked the f I short the termistor end on board repieter shows 301 deg.C.
This suggests the T_bed slot on the board is OK,so the board doesn't have a problem.

2.
1) resistance of heated bed is out of specification.
2) heated bed is not heating even if it is connected to boards hotend heater.
It's not the bed,but the thermistor underneath the bed.Maybe the thermistor wasn't soldered well(has an open circuit),or it was broken.
And one point you'd better get is: only the board detects the bed temp(room temp) can the heater heat up,but in your case there is no temp detected.
