I made a mistake earlier when wiring a fan to the board, and shorted the two terminals.
A component on my controlboard flared up and is now ash. The component is the one below the jumpers (JP2), and I think it was a transistor. The fan terminal I shorted still supplies power.
My question is; is the control board still safe to use, and if so is the terminal still safe to use? Are there any ways I can test if this ruined my board completely?
I shorted and smoked part of my GT2560 A+ board, is it still safe to use?

Hi, You can check if there are three lights on the motherboard when you turn on the printer normally,
but if the motherboard is damaged, it is recommended to replace the motherboard.

-Keep your mind and try to test it.

Hello shortsandburns.
It was a mosfet transistor.
To be sure, you can unsolder it.
Read its designation, then you will be able to check the diagram for what it was responsible for. (Q4?)

Thanks for the replies
The designation is Q4, and I've found the diagram for it, but I cant understand it.
The three lights do turn on
Unfortunately the transistor was little more than charcoal, so I removed it from the board (it smelled)

Hi.
Take my word for it, it's superfluous.
Okay, it works in a mechanism that switches the power supply to the fans.
VDC means main power supply and VIN means fan power supply.
The rest you can guess for yourself.
