Z axis issues

Post by Neil » Tue Feb 13, 2018 8:12 am

Ok I have my i3 pro b now printing....sort of.
My main issue is I keep getting intermitant binding on the left side lead screw, some.time it happens and some times it's fine.
I have checked everything mechanically multiple times and i can't find a physical reason for this to happen.
Could it be I need to up the power of the stepper motors to cope with the weight of the extruder carriage or could it be some thing else?

1.You should adjust the level of X-axis right and left is same
2.Add lubricating oil
3.Increase the voltage of A4988

Thank you for the reply.
Just a quick follow up question. Is there an optimum power setting for the motors and is it possible to set it too high?

Well I've finally taken the infernal thing apart and found that not only are the threads on the brass T nuts badly cut but the lead screws are massively out of tolerance to the point where I can't even recut the threads with a die cutter because they are so large.
Off to the hardware store tomorrow for more threaded rod .
Not impressed with quality control

Hi, since the instalation of the new version RepetierHost_2_1_3, I have Z engines that slam and jump steps with slicer Cura and it goes well with SLIC3r (printer geeetech I3 M201)

I contacted repeater facebook, here is their answer:
Adjust z jerk, acceleration and max z speed in firmware to values that work for your printer. I guess cura has no limit and relies on firmware to adjust to limits.

How do we do that ? on I3 M201 not having an open source card
