G2s pro Z axis motor
I've been fighting with my G2s for a couple months, when I have time to work on it, trying to get the motors working in the correct direction. I believe I've finally got the direction taken care of, but my Z axis motor seems weak in "home". I will home it, and the X and y motors will go, but I will have to "assist" the Z to the top of the printer. I've attempted to adjust the voltage, and that seems to help the motor with it finally moves, but it just doesn't want to move in home. It will sit there and shutter until I give it a nudge. Now if I use the Repeteir controls and move the Z axis up and down a step, it moves very brisk and with out hesitation. I've also checked my rods and bearings and they seem ok.
So if anyone has any clue what could be wrong, then that would help prevent me from throwing this paper weight out the window. I heard many good things about GeeTech printers.... unfortunately I haven't had that experience yet.

Have you checked the endstop status like the following link shows?

I have checked the end stops and they are working properly. I can see the state change when I "assist" the Z axis shuttle to the end stop. Now looking further into this, since this is a stepper motor, and this seems to be happening on a group of these... could we just be dealing with swapped motor driver wiring? Is there a good wiring diagram that could be used to check this. The one on the website shows the color code for the Amiga board... but not for the servo itself. I've seen on other stepper motors where you can move one step in a direction well, but if the phase pick up is swapped then it will just "puke" when trying to move cause it is getting information on the wrong input. I've still fighting with this as time allows. but the dust that is gathering on it due to the frustration with this kit isn't helping me along either.

As for your issue,there maybe two possibilities i think:
1.The rods and bearings on Z axis have something wrong,you can move it by hand to check there is something blocks the Z motor under condition powering it off by comparing to other axis.
2.The second one may be the Z axis driver's problem,which means it may have no sufficient voltage(The voltage when you home and when you move just a step are different).You can swap the driver A4988 with other axis to see if the problem still exist.

Ok,
I disconnected the arms from the shuttles to see how that would change anything. And it did. I'll try to attach a video but mp4 isn't a valid file format for this forum for some reason. but the Z axis will speed up quickly to the stop while x and y slowly go up. As well as the Z axis is easy for me to over come the torque with minimal weight. So do I just have a bad motor? or is there a setting that I'm overlooking that can cause this?

A follow up to the previous post. During the test with the print head arms removed, if I have no weight on the shuttle then the Z axis rockets up and then the X and Y slowly follow. If I put weight on the Z axis shuttle (just a little bit with my finger) then I can simulate the shuddering (stays when I take my finger away) and will sometimes cause it to go in reverse. So it looks like with the print head on the weight of the assembly is making it to always go into this condition. Now what can cause that. It really is like the motor is just loosing where it thinks it's at when I apply weight to the shuttle. Again MP4 video will not load

Looks like the Z motor have no sufficient torque for that?Did you change another A4988 for Z axis?Z motor itself may have a problem,but firstly,i think you can replace its driver with other motors'(like extruder motor's driver A4988).

See if that will work on the video.
My next try is to swap the motor out with another tonight or the driver. after playing with it more last night it does seem to matter where the shuttle is at on the travel. In the center of the travel is where it seems it will mess up the most... and yes I have rechecked the guide bars and from what info I have they seem to be ok.

Ok, I think I figured out where the issue is coming from. I swapped cables from one motor to another, no change. I swapped motors from one side to another, it stayed on that channel. I swapped motor on channels, and it moved to which ever motor I have plugged into that axis port, to which I found out is actually the Y axis port (which I messed up because I have found I had received conflicting instructions... the one that came with the kit differed from the online and since I was bouncing back and forth between the two.. looks like I got punked). I've also swapped the driver boards around and there hasn't been a change. What ever is plugged into the Y axis will puke when trying to move.
So, does anyone have an accurate diagram of what axis is which on this God Forsaken printer? Where can I find what driver board actually goes to which channel? So I can at least make sure it is indeed wired up correctly and second does anyone have any idea what might be going on besides a possible bad board. I am beyond disgruntle at this point with this printer. I am slightly miffed.

I don't entirely understand what you exactly mean,i guess you wanna know which A4988 controls what motor?If so,look the pic i attached: 4.You'd better swap the driver of the problem motor with other axis,take note of the A4988's direvtion when you're plugging it,the board will burn out if A4988 has a wrong direction,a right direction should be this:Where can I find what driver board actually goes to which channel?
