y-axis does not move correctly, jerking action

Hi there. I have an acrylic Prusa i3 machine built from kit that has been working well for several months now.
I recently moved it from one location to another, no disassembly, but it's possible that something could have come loose (although unlikely).
At any rate, x and z axis home perfectly at start.
Y axis jerks back and forth (sometimes can move several cm), but will not move properly to the home position. A lot of noisy, grinding jerks.
What can I check? what could possibly go wrong?
Do I have to reload the firmware? is there potential damage possible on the stepper driver boards?

Thanks.

There can be two steps you can check first :
1) check the connection of Z axis motor wires, see if they are loose;
2)check the Z endstop sensor wire, if there is a bad contact or also loose

Thanks, I've checked all the connections (to the Y motor and endstop), and everything looks fine. The heatsink was a little loose, so I repositioned it. No change.

1. How is it if you unplug x motor driver and plug it to mainboard again?
2. How is it if you swap x motor driver and y motor driver?

I swapped the driver boards for x with the y axis, now both are working!
I have no idea what happened, but I'm happy now!
