Arduino and firmware issues with Mac

I'm new to all of this and messed up. I have a Prusa i3 X with a GT2560 + 4 A4988. When I powered up my printer the first time and tried to calibrate it using the firmware already installed, the x and y motors both appeared backwards and the z didn't do anything. I uploaded the Repetier Host Mac that came with the printer, but it did not have the "Manual Control" tab as noted in the instructions. I tried uploading Arduino 1.6.5 and I could not find the control for the motors on Arduino either, but in the process seem to have uploaded the Arduino and now the firm ware that came with the printer is gone? Where can I get the original firmware and how where can I find a controller to check the motors, then correct them if they are going the wrong direction? I suspect the y and x are both going the wrong direction because they both went to the opposite of the switch when I tried to originally calibrate the printer, (also had seizing and stuttering, so would help to be able to manually control the motors while trouble shooting, but have not been able to find manual motor controls on Repetier or Arduino). Please keep in mind I am very new to this and am not familiar with computer programs, I am learning as I go along.
Thanks for any help

could you take a screenshot to let me see what's wrong with your repetier host? besides,if the motors direction are reversed,you need to change their direction in repetier host.

here are some information about repetier host.
1.download repetier host for mac;
http://download.repetier.com/files/host ... c_0_56.dmg
2.here is tutorial about repetier host

Hi Eric,
Thank you for your response. I already have Repetier and have also already read the tutorial you linked (but thanks). My problem is that the Geeetech instructions show a "Manual Control" tab: here is the Geeetech pic:
7. At the same time, you can click the arrows on the above panel to move the motors to check if they work well.

But when I open the Repetier program that Geeetech links to, this is what my program has a tab that says "Print Panel" (and that tab does not have manual motor controls:
