Drivers are upgradable.
I've changed them on my gtv4.
Soon i'll buy skr 1.4 for my a10 and will try to make post about it.
I've already changed the stock hotend to direct drive e3dv6.

It's simple - different drivers have different Vref equations

Hello, William! The second time for about 6 monthes my psu input switch fail: first time the fuse was burned, and now the switch on button failed. I've checked the input power from the fuse, it's ok, but no matter in what position the power on switch is, it isn't delivering power to psu. Whom should...

You should find equation of the vref, it depends on the resistance of one resistor on your driver and find the max I of your stepper motor.
Or just measure current vref on the a4988 and set vref on tmc2208 just a little bit less.
