Thanks for quick reply, starting to sort things out, did not have much luck with some of the firmware I downloaded, one 1.1.19 version gave me a lot of lay shifting, also the different controllers don't help, ended up downloading 1.1.9 from marlin and building my own.

Could someone explain why in some Geeetech firmware the DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT for the A10 changes from 80 , 80 ( x y) to 80.3 , 80.8 .

check the cable to the screen is connected correctly blue band up with display down.

If your head cage as the fans on each side and five bolts on top you can fit it in place of the geeetech one, the five bolts clamp the heatsink. new posted firmware Geeetech A10 with GT2560VB board has problems, x e steps and y have been changed from 80 to 80.3 and 80.8.
Also when auto home x and y go to home then vibrate and you have to power off the printer.
Had to flash a diffrent firmware to get the printer to work.
