It uses a Raspberry Pi, connects to the printer via USB and has a web interface where you can slice and store files for printing. I don't have TMC2208s to test at the moment, but for reference, that version of the firmware has been out since October and has worked just fine on multiple A30s. Yes isopropyl aclohol works great. Rub it good with a lint-free towell. The glass material is the same as the Ultrabase and the Creality glass plate - it's pretty reliable unless you scratch the #$%@ out of it Prints should stick very well if your z-height is correct.
