I couldn't get the EasyPrint firmware update to work, but after weeks of trying different solutions (new SD cards, firmware updates via arduino IDE, etc....) I've finally fixed the problem. I replaced the GT2560 board in the printer control box and haven't had any slow downs or printer halting/stall...

I've tried updating the firmware via EasyPrint, but the process appears to be stuck.

I've just tried printing via USB (Windows 10 running Simplify3D to drive the printer). I'm still getting stalls, but it starts printing again after about a minute of not moving. I don't think that it's the nozzle hitting the bed. I've leveled the bed and it starts to print (the skirt outline prints OK and is closer to the edges of the print bed) - also, there's no straining of the motors that I can hear as they just slow down to a stop and the LCD freezes. There's no errors...
